Hello, I recently bought the above lower unit to replace my damaged unit. After receiving the unit, I found that the drive shaft pulled out of the lower unit without any resistance. I looked in the drive shaft opening and I do not see a retainer clip. I don’t even see a hole for the retainer roll pin. The unit was described as a brand new, never in the water unit taken off so that a jet could be installed on the donor motor. Can I just put the drive shaft in, install the water pump and install it on the motor? Or do I have to take it all apart and install a retainer clip? You advice would be appreciated. Thanks
