I have the above twin engines in my Carver 366. It's my first VP experience. FWC inboards. Over the winter in installed new OEM manifolds and Barr risers (I have the tall ones-like 10" give or take). There was nothing wrong with it. It was just needed maintenance. We drove it 35 miles after buying it. I replaced the complete raw water pumps with oem ($580.00 each)! Over the winter as I was doing the work, I took the heat exchangers off and checked and flushed. Same with the trans and oil coolers (and hoses). The engines run all day long at 150 to 158 deg. No issues. It just seems the risers, exhaust hoses, and mufflers seem hotter that other inboards I've had. The heat radar gun shows one of them at 210 (on the top) idling. This is the side that feeds the prop bushing (3/8" barb and hose which I assume is normal- seems oem). Maybe it's fine. The alarms for the switches on the risers work as I've grounded them just to test, and they do not go off. My questions are what is a normal temp for the exhaust and risers? What is the temp the heat sensor switches close at? Do I have a problem or not? If there were any real restrictions anywhere, the engines would overheat under load, which they clearly do not. Thanks in advance.
