2004 25 HP 4-Stroke Water pump

I have a 2004 25 hp 4-stroke I just replaced the water pump. Now when the motor is idling it will not pump water. When the motor is idled up the pump starts working. Anybody have any suggestions?

Ream some weed eater line up through he discharge tube. You might have some debris stuck in there.

You may have also pinched the grommet on the water pick up tube when reinstalling the LU.
