Hi all,

Longtime lurker, new poster. I have a 2004 225 hp OptiMax that has started to stumble at cruising speed. It seems to happen when it is somewhat rough out (2-3'), and I've only got about 50 gallons of fuel left. I have a Racor 10 Micron fuel filter/water separator (S3227) right before the primer bulb. I have read that these can be a problem with the DFI engines. So, a few questions: Does this/can this cause engine damage? Is it possible that the takeup line in the fuel tank has corroded, leading to it sucking air? If this were you, where would you start looking? Sorry if these are dumb questions, I tried searching and couldn't find anything related. Getting pretty nervous about it...

Thanks,
Vince

Can't remember if your year has the fuel filter that screws on the bottom of the vapour separator, or the one that screws into the top- either way, that might be a good starting point.

Thanks Jim, I'll check the manual for that and then the filter/water separator. I'll keep you posted.
