Hi Folks,

My 2003 Yamaha outboard is running too rich with oil. I can tell by the reservoir that it is going through oil much more than in the past. This is causing problems. Is there an adjustment screw or a way to regulate the amount of oil being injected? i want to limit calibrate or regulate that adjustment if there is one. thank you in advance

Have you any idea as to the model of the motor? Is it a 25TLR, a Z300, or something in between?

a service manual for your motor should have a procedure to check calibration,
but You can always look to make sure the linkage is still hooked up to the throttle.
if it comes loose on a lot, if not all motors is should go full on to help protect the motor

Very reliable injection system on these engines. I’d have kept it operating.
It’s likely your linkage to the throttle movement that varies the rate of oil flow…has failed. It can then (on some Yamaha) default to full flow, for safety measures. Certainly on some I’ve known or had in bits.
