Greetings.
I have a 2002 Tracker with a 225 optimax. The boat has been sitting for about 6 years while I was slowly doing a refurbished on the hull..before I put it away I ran all of the gas out out of the engine. So now I put a new battery in and hooked up the water. It started up and ran fine for about a minuet. However, when I increased the throttle a little bit to keep it running. The engine went full out ! I hurried to shut it off. Checked to make sure the linkage wasn't stuck and everything looked fine. Tried starting it again and right away the rpms went screaming.. I shut it off so I didn't blow the engine. The only other thing that was bad was the float in the oil Reservoir let loose. I'm pretty sure that also doesn't have anything to do with it. Anyways I would appreciate any ideas..

Not being real familiar with the opti's, I doubt you would have a carbon caused runaway, but maybe. Totally computer controlled????
Guessing that is where the problem is.

...or a major air leak or fuel starvation. Check for dried or rodent-chewed rubber hoses and/or connectors.
