Hello! I recently purchased a Wellcraft 22WA with a 2 stroke 2002 Johnson V6 150 - I believe it is an ocean pro but the decals have been removed. It is carbbed and not a FICHT. The boat was neglected, but in otherwise good condition.
I do not trust the oiler system. I am aware the late model VRO/OMS are more reliable, but at 24 years old the less things that can break… the better. I own several 2 strokes and delete and premix all of them.
I understand the electrical aspect and have no issue bypassing the alarms, but I was hoping someone could chime in and reassure me that there will be no negative consequences for plugging the hose barb where the oil is delivered? I have attached a photo of the barb I’m referring to. It seems it is feeding a pump - will the lack of oil burn it up? If so, could this have an effect on the fuel system?
There is plenty of info for the process on the OG VRO motors, but not much for the 2002’s.
TYIA!
