I agree with you there sloopy.
There's a gathering of minds here that reckon we've seen Allinge slow down so as to appear to be getting a serious challenge. When its suited them they've taken off. Just look at the last couple of days racing.
Ross

I don't know about slowing down. It looked to me like ****son failed to cover, yet another tactical mistake, and Coutts and Butterworth took advantage.
I do think Alinge will win the LV at least, though. Coutts and company simply make no mistakes, and any other team will have to have a faster boat to win--and none of the other boats are faster. They may be pretty equal, but that is not good enough against Coutts.

It does appear that Alinghi has more speed than Oracle, and add that to consistently flawless sailing of Coutts and crew, I think I am ready to concede a 5 race sweep to the Swedes.

Will they be competitive with the Kiwis in the final? Have to admit I'd like to see the venue moved for the next series of races.

Re: 2002 2003 AMERICA's CUP

Hi Sloopy,

Oracle should have won race three, but they made a huge error in running over the back end of Alinghi and getting a penalty--a mistake they did not need to make as they were already in position to take the advantage. They did finally win race 4 with some good luck, but they cannot compete with Butterworth and Coutts in a close racing duel.
Tonite they lost it in a tacking duel up the second windward leg...

The only way Oracle can win is with phenomenal luck in the next four races--not likely, I am afraid.

Will Alinghi be competitive with the Kiwis in the finals??? I hope so. I want to see the Kiwis lose.

Alinghi wins by 2:34, what I don't understand is why they don't always do that type of fight on all the legs? if they did'nt get a penelty in the start they would of won...

Re: 2002 2003 AMERICA's CUP

Crew. Talk about a deep team. If you took the guys that Oracle has on its sailing team, you could staff three first rate Cup crews. Early on, this team aggressively worked the market to ensure it had back ups for its back ups in just about every position on the boat. The final 16 guys that made the "A-team" should count their lucky stars, because they know the guys on the "B-boat" are just as good. This crew is so deep that one of the biggest names in America's Cup racing -- Paul Cayard is "on-ice" -- still on the team's roster, but not down in New Zealand (due to an apparent conflict with Larry Ellison).
thats from OLN why is there a fight between Cayard and Larry? also check this site out:
LArry ELlison

GOSH THAT LADY IS STALKING LARRY!!!! RUN LARRY RUN!!!!!!!

And I might as well say good job to ALinghi too! and I am with plywoody on this! PLEASE ALINGHI TAKE THE CUP AWAY FROM NEW ZEALAND!!!!!!!

Good job Alinghi
Nice try Oracle
