Stealing it is his only hope Sloopster. The NYYC should be getting used of having no mug in the trothy cabinet by now. Kiwi's rule the Auckland habour.............its only a race.

Anyone want to take bets on when DC takes over the helm (because you know he will)?

Re: 2002 2003 AMERICA's CUP

Have you seen him lately?
He's certainly in for the fight. However this kiwi wouldn't rule out the Alingi team. They have that deserter Couts skippering for them. Yesterdays race showed they're in fine form. I wouldn't wish any bad luck on any team, but with NZ deserters amoungst the crews I'm less inclined to be rooting for them.
Just to set the record straight last time I was rooting for Prada!
Ross

I know it's gotta be hard to watch your countrymen crewing for other teams, but there's no other real source of talent for all these campaigns. The VOR was stacked with Kiwis this year. I like Ellison's boat. Who is favored over all?

From What I've seen and heard so far, Alingi seems to be a heavy favorite. :)

Racing has been abandoned on day two of the Louis Vuitton Cup.

Strong winds of around 25 knots are blowing out on the Hauraki Gulf and are forecast to get stronger.

Nineteen knots is the cut off point for racing.

The races will be started Thursday, weather permitting.

.....too windy for my boat too :(

Yep sloopy they did hit!
No apparent damage done but you can bet your you-know-what that they'll be demending some answers. I mean to say hitting another boat has to be a no no. Besides its against the law. Our maritime police could arrest the lot! Now wouldn't that be funny.
Yes again two 180's thrown by both boats. Very good racing today.
I'm going to watch it tomorrow but the forecast is already set for 15 to 20 knots so don't hold your breath.
Calm this morning and I nearly took my boat out for a look see, I can climb over the side now and my surgeon said whan I can do that I can go out.
O boy, O boy, O boy!
Ross

Re: 2002 2003 AMERICA's CUP

It's 0815hrs on the 14 November.
There's not a puff of wind in West Auckland so I can imagine the usual pattern of their being about 15 to 20 knots by lunchtime. Its sunny and they predict it to rise to 19 degrees C by the afternoon. Sun hats again today. Yahoo!
They'll be racing today I guess.
Ross

Re: 2002 2003 AMERICA's CUP

Hey Sloopy, those two broken spinnaker poles are one and the same. It was the same boat that broke the same one earlier. I have watched the video replay of it and if you look closely when the boat appears to almost jibe then you can see the pole hit the forward jib with force and break. It's the same as they did earlier. I would expect to see them do that again some time!
Have to admit, I'm impressed with the emergency repairs.
Ross

Re: 2002 2003 AMERICA's CUP

AND THEY STILL BEAT ONE WORLD!!! I think Oricle will be in cup, but I think new zealand (ERRRR) will still keep it. WE need to put dennis conner on oricle sense hes the only who knows how to win the cub back! sadly the won't and stars and stribes will be out by the next round. and about ereva.... WOW that was luck, I would like to see them stay intle the next round! One world was invincible in the first round robins... no losses but know there 4 ZIP with oricle! and what aboat prada!! A NEW BOW!! this will be intersting.. and doesent pradahave three boats? they have two trainers! I would raced in there trainer boats just for luck then forfit that round to put a new bow on. that way they could still have a small chance of getting more points!

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/americasc...n=americascup&thesecondsubsection=challengers
I think it's sade but somebody has to go. These teams have proven their worth here in En Zed as good sportsmen and great guests. I have met them on the water when passing and a wave or call of encouragement always went acknowledged by their crew. Great boats, great people and most of all great visitors to our country.
Ross
