Hi all, first post here. I just bought an '01 q3 fish and ski (115 merc O/B) that I think I got a pretty good deal on. First boat I ever bought from a dealer, but they gave me the previous owner's name and I was able to contact him with questions about the history of the boat, problems, etc. I've had several older(70's/80's rotten carpet, rotten floor, cheap) bass boats in the past, and decided this time if I was going to get another boat it was gonna be what I really wanted and something I could take the granddaughters out in and take fishing myself. This one looks like it's goinng to fit the bill, as soon as the snow and ice are gone anyway.

My first silly question here is:

Is there storage under the bow seat cushions? It seems as though they are removable, but they dont seem to want to just pull out. Thought I'd ask you folks before I broke out the hammer and pry bar....

Thanks,

Scott

Got it. Warmed up a bit today so I pulled the cover off and messed with it some more. They do come out and there is a small amount of storage underneath.

Pulling it to work tomorrow so I can drop it off at the shop for a lower unit oil change and impeller replacement. Thought I might do it myself but I'm more of a vintage Volkswagen mechanic and this doesnt translate to outboards very well. I'll be buying the service manual for it soon, though....

Congrats on your purchase. I love Tahoes. I have had an 01 Q7 and my Dad had an 04 or 05 215 deckboat. Great boats. My only complaint was how harsh they were on rough water.

Speaking of those front storage areas. make sure they have a drain. My Dad's didnt have any and we almost swamped it on a rough day in Tampa Bay. With 2 people up there, and those compartments full of water we went under wakes instead of over. I simply drilled 1/2" holes in the rear of each one and it was drained and was fine afterward.

Had we been able to find another newer Q7 or even a Q6 we would have bought it, but there were none at the time when we bought ours. I am very happy with our choice, but we paid a whole lot more for a used boat than we could have paid for a brand new Tahoe.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, they have drains in them, but I'll make sure they are not clogged up before taking it out. Appreciate the tip!

Come on Spring.....
