Going to look at one today. Is there anything bad this year and or model boats me be known for?

I know to look for the obvious like weak floors, transom issues/stress cracks, engine issues.

The owner has only owned the boat since april of this year so that concerns me a little.
His reason for selling was no time to use.

Thanks

Re: 2001 Q3 4.3 I/O looking to buy

I have a 2001 Q3 s/f o/b and the biggest issue is the upholstery is not of good quality.I have had to repair the rear seat bottoms and will have to do the captains and first mates soon as well. Keep an eye on all screws and dolts as they will loosen up in time. These I have found if I punt a little silicone on the screws the stay tight, bolts ss lock washers do the job.hope it helps and good luck.

Thanks for the reply. We are actually going tonight to look and test.

Does anyone know if this year model had wood or glass floors?
I have read the newer models have fiberglass.

Thanks

I think mine has wood,I had a 1988 searay seville before my Taho and it was wood encased in rosin. The quality of my taho doesn't come close to the searay but the price goes accordingly though.

My 01 Q7 had fiberglass floors, however, I think it was over a plywood floor. I had a hell of a time with my seats. The screws holding the pedestal down kept stripping out and there is nothing down there to bite into. The structure is fiberglass wrapped around wood. They did go to fiberglass stringers at some point, but I am not sure what year. I looked at a few Q6s that had carpet in teh rear cockpit, but no idea what was under it. I had some spots on the upper part of my gunwales that were starting to delaminate as well. And as mentioned, the upholstery does not hold up very well compared to more expensive boats like Chaparrel or Sea Ray. The engine is the same as every other boat manufacterer uses, so no worries there.

Honestly, I took out an 06 Sea Ray 205 sport and was very disapointed. I think the new Q7 was layed out better inside and rode just as nice and started at about $14000 less for equal amenities when new. Someone else said it in another thread when I was looking to buy, that Sea Ray really does not put the quality into the smaller boats like they used to. Either way, I think for the price, you just cannot beat the Tahoe. I liked mine. If I had bought it new it would not have had near the problems I did. SO buy the nicest one you can find. Those boats only sold for about $13k brand new if I remember correctly. My Dad bought a new 215 Tahoe Deckboat around that time when this one was new. Dont overpay for a Tahoe.
