I'm working on a 2001 Mercury 50 hp 2 stroke I recently got, it had a bad starter and starter solenoid so replaced those and she started right up. My issue now is there appears to be fuel leaking from a hole on one of the carbs, was wondering if anyone knew what that hole is for and why it would be leaking fuel? It's weird because there's 3 carbs and only the middle one leaks fuel from that hole when I'm pumping the primer bulb, the other 2 don't.

Can't be certain without the serial number of your motor, but it could be where there is supposed to be a "vent Jet." Do the other two carbs have a small jet screwed into that same hole?

It would be a part similar to this 1395-6247...

Serial # is 0T458817, also uploaded a pic of the specs as well as a pic of the 3 carb setup, none of them have a screw in that hole and only the middle one leaks fuel when I pump the primer bulb.

Sounds to me like an issue with the carb's needle valve and float. The needle valve and float are not doing their job of maintaining the proper fuel level in the carb bowl and the excess fuel is coming out the vent hole. You should get a rebuild kit and replace the needle valve and float.

It's probably normal that the carb does not have a vent jet. Many of those did not. Even if it had a vent jet, that would not stop fuel from pouring out in this condition.

Thanks! That's what I was thinking too, also started removing the carbs for disassembly to see what's wrong.
