We are looking at a 2001 used package from a private seller that has a 2001 Merc 50hp oil injected 2-stroke on it.
Seller is about an hour from us and the marina's in the area have a 3 week wait. One of the service guys said the top cylinder on those 50's always runs lean, and would be the most likely candidate. Do you guys think asking to have it compression tested is out of line?
Any experiences or advice on 2001 Merc 50's is greatly appreciated.
