Hey Guys I've got an 2000 Mercury two stroke that was running fine except that you had to use the choke for several minutes before it would idle correctly... A little background here the motor sat in my shop for a couple of years with out being used... I thought the carb just needed to be cleaned up and took it to my local mechanic... He broke it open right away and looked at the pistons and just as he thought there was scoring on the cylinder walls and pistons... I was told that this was a common occurrence with this year Mercury engine because the fuel jet ran them too lean... I was wondering if anyone else has ran into this problem and if so did you spend the money to fix it or junk it and start over??? Also has anyone had any luck boring out the cylinders and going that route... thanks
