Ok
HOPEFULLY this will be the last update for this thread/problem.
Got to play with my boat tonight on the trailer with the muffs and hose. After doing a but ton of research to make sure that I was doing all things right, I redone the timing( it was a good bit off. I used the method posted in the adults only section. I read a step, then done it, read a step and done it, the whole way through), I also had to readjust the carburetor mixture and idle settings. After all of this I AM now getting the initial 10 at idle(about 650) and an additional 14 to 16(at 2k to 2500). I will attempt to put it in the water this weekend and if that happens, I will let you all know what happens.
Either way, THANK YOU ALL for your attention and help.

Do you have a knock sensor attached to that distributor?

Got to put the boat in the water today. It took throttle just fine in netural, however when I put it into gear it would only go to 2k RPM then back fire/cough through the carb, sputter and die. It would restart and idle fine untill I tried to give it throttle in gear and then it was just repeat 2k RPM, cough, sputter and die.
Thoughts Anyone??

Check spark advance, and distributor and ignition module grounds.
