I have a 2000 SeaRay with the Mercruiser 260. First use of the season (I know, sad that it's July), go to fire it up: Nothing. Checked the usual suspects fuel, fuses, neutral switch, kill lanyard. Sprayed some carb cleaner down the throttle body thinking it was not getting fuel. Still not firing. Sounds like no spark. I have heard about a service bulletin on the distributors on these models. Any ideas? Going to be a long hot week of vacation with no boat!

You need to check for spark, it's easy. Pull the coil wire out of the center of the distributor cap, hold it about 3/8 to 1/2" from a good clean ground and have a helper crank the engine. You should see and hear a bright blue spark snap across the gap. If no spark, follow the troubleshooting chart below.
This is assuming it's a carbed 260 hp engine. If EFI, well........ that is why we always like Merc serial numbers not vague discriptions.

It is an EFI. Will post the serial # in a bit. Thanks for all help!
