Have you checked the anti-syphon valve on the fuel tank. Does the primer bulb want to go flat. ???

Seeing it's a 2000 model built by OMC, you may just have a bad system check gauge. They did have probs. See if you can find a loaner just to plug in and try. I still keep one in my tool box just for that purpose.

Find the tan wire that goes to the vacuum switch on the port side of the mtr and disconnect that and run it. It could also be a bad switch. The switch is plumbed into the fuel lines.

also ive read up on the check engine light and buzzer its caused by a vaccum---or restriction correct----funny after i changed this filter to a seasense unversial on this started happening --could this filter be to small of inlet and outlet to let the fuel go through like it should----it had plastic one on it--this type on there now is metal with glass see through with removable filter-----also as i was removing the filter the small line that hooks to the fuel line in a tee going into the pump came loose i put it back together it goes into a small valve like with two wires coming out of it hooked up to a plug--everythings hooked back up but could i have done something else not knowing ---taking guesses here but i dont see unit just going bad without any warning exspecially after ive done what i hae done which seems to be the root of the cause according to what iam reading--if i had not changed filter and this happened --yes i could think it might be a bad unit--possibilites?

If it were me, I would remove the new filter completely for testing purposes. Simple enough.
