2000 johnson 70 hp

runs good, idles good, has good compression 150 psi but seems to use a lot of fuel. is this common for these? its on a 24 foot pontoon.

It will use 10% of the horse power at WOT which is 7 gallon per hr. What are you using ??

I'm not sure how to measure it exactly but I know I'm using more than 7 gallons per hour and I don't even run at wot. wot is 5500 and I keep it under 5. my closest guess would be twice that amount.

Pontoons are not the most fuel efficient hulls. You could try dropping a couple inches in pitch on the prop as WOT on that motor should be 6000 rpm.
