I have a 2000 Johnson 150hp that wont rev over 2800rpms under load. I initially thought it was a throttle cable issue but after some investigating I found I wasnt getting any spark to the 3 port side cylinders. Does this typically point to a bad powerpack on that side?

Thanks in advance!

Re: 2000 Johnson 150 Powerpack

i just had this problem and solved it today. In my case it was a problem with the shift sensor. I have a 1998 60 degree 150hp. Its even in the manual! the whole port side was getting no spark. Just this shift sensor. I disconnected it and it runs like a champ. I suppose the shift sensor cuts out half the engine to save the life of the gears during the act of shifting. check the manual under ignition area.
