2000 Johnson 130hp Ocean Pro vxsss

Hi guys, im havin alarm problems with my new boat & i cant figure it out. Its a 2000 angelr with a johnson 130 ocean pro. When up on plain i get one beep ever few minutes.all of the indicator lights flash once.the tac & battery gage jumps around but gos right back to norm.(i check the batt conn.)the motor still runs fine but i pulled off the cowling & thare seems to be a brown haze of dust all over the motor, almost like brown spray paint or something. Any ideas ???

You may have a loose wire, maybe under dash.
Look inside the cawlin to see if the sound pad is comming apart.

Thanks for reading & answering my post. After reading your reply, I went and checked your suggestions. I looked for loose wires & nothing really stood out. Also, I found the fuel and water separater had fallen and was laying on its side. I don't know if that would be the cause of the alarm. Still can't figure out what the brown, dust like, haze is all over the motor either.The sound pad is in very good condition.

Corrosion inhibitor (in a spray can) looks like a brown waxy haze on an engine block. That is what you may be seeing.

When the lights flash in sequence on the tach, it is resetting. It beeps once, and then the lights come on one at a time, until all four are on, and then they shut off.

The loose wire theory is a good one.
