Does anyone have suggestions on why our carpeted storage under front bow seats has standing water ??? Thought seats were self draining - so not sure where water is coming from. Thinking water may be coming from front ladder/anchor opening but not sure of under hull design for rain water flow to sump. Does Chaparal have a good factory help line available ???

Does the boat stay out in the rain?

Check your speedo pitot tube. It may have a hole in it. I'm just not sure the routing of the tube will go that for forward to the bow area. I was told at one time that if I ever feel the carpet wet underneath the instrument panel, to check this pitot tube for leaks.

My Chap has the same problem. In fact I posted a similar discussion a few weeks back about drilling a drain hole in the bottom of the storage hold to allow the water to drain down to the keel and back to the bilge.

I found that Chaps are self draining, but only when parked on a near level surface. My water was coming from water overflow of the molded water channels around the back perimeter of the seat. Because my driveway slopes to the port side of my boat , water pooled under the port cushion and fell into the storage bin. The water channels are not deep enough in my opinion.

Apparently not much you can do other than keeping the boat covered or on a level surface.

Ok so I will presume you have the CDS, "cockpit drainage system". Now my Chaparral has it but I understand that that hull came out in 2001 so I am not sure how your Sunesta is set up. The CDS may predate the new hull for all I know. In any event, the CDS is actually a channel that runs around the seats down to the floor so water can run to the bildge for drainage. I rarely open the bow storage in my Chap but I am pretty certain there is no drain in there. I would always get water in the boat when I am at one of my cabins that requires I store it on the trailer every night (if it rained over night), meaning the cds can't work properly since the ground isn't level. What I figured out is that my 2 piece mooring cover lets water in where the bow cover snaps to the center window. It is a design flaw in the way the bow cover was designed. My absolutely hokey way of ensuring no water is let in is that I take a single piece of blue painters tape and tape over the gap where the bow cover snaps to the center window if I know it is going to rain that night. I haven't had water inside since so I don't have to preemtively remove the snap out carpet in expectation of it getting wet.

Our boat is kept at the dock so it should be level. Have you figured out where the water goes from the front ladder/anchor storage hatch??
Disappears down under but I wonder if it goes to the rear bilge and if this passsageway is clogged causing leakage into seat storage.
