Looking at getting a 2000 Blazer with tow package and only 100k. Will this safely pull my 14-foot boat? I will be driving 30 miles or so one way with each trip. Some on the interstate.

If it has the 4.3L you will be just fine. Braking shouldn't be much of an issue either.

You should be able to tow a 14 ft alumacraft with a Honda civic

I have a 2000 Blazer with the 4.3 vortek engine, I pull my 22' Islander with no issues. Looks sort of silly as the boat is larger than the tow vehicle but it does the job fine and mine has 200,000 miles on her, but has been well maintained.

That boat and trailer are very light. You'll need to be careful when you pull it with the Blazer. You're likely to completely forget you're pulling anything. ;)

When I was a kid I used to go boating with my uncle. He pulled his 14' boat with a 4 cylinder 1984 Oldsmobile Omega.

I pull my 13' fiberglass tri-hull with an '01 Civic. No problems. Don't know where you are but it's flat in Tampa. How large are the tires on the trailer? Gotta go slower on the interstate with 8" wheels.

Hook her up and go.

Don't forget it is back there when you go through the burger drive-thru.

No need to worry about highway speeds if your bearings are maintained.

FWIW the 4 door has a longer wheelbase and tows that much better

Re: 2000 Blazer + 14-foot Alumacraft

We had an '02 2 door Bkazer 4.3L. It pulled a 17' FG boat and trailer which weighed 2400 Lb. plus fuel, ice, gear, two persons and a dog in the car. I took it easy, driving in Florida, and made many trips across the state and back. It used to hunt for 4th gear, though, and even though I never went over 65, it kept upshifting. One day the tranny failed and had to be rebuilt. I kept using the Blazer for a few more cross-Florida trips, but never felt at ease with it. I slowed down to about 55 mph tops, and used 3rd gear a lot, with no further problem. The manual says that vehicle is rated at 6,000 Lb. towing capacity. Now there are tougher SAE J2087 standards which are in effect for all cars. I wonder if the '02 Blazer would still be rated at 6,000 Lb. under those stricter rules. Anyway, I'm sure your rig is lots lighter and should give no problem. Just watch out for upshifting and avoid it by slowing down or driving in 3rd.

Does this answer your question? The S-10 is a 4WD Crew Cab, 3.73 gears and towed this 17 ft boat in OD effortlessly and got 17 MPG in the process.

It'll be fine, as said above.
I'm thinking that many think they need more vehicle than they really need. I used to tow a 17' I/O with a Caprice w/LT1 motor; hardly noticed it there. Now, I tow my 17' Dixie Cheater - fish & ski w/115 Merc - behind a 2011 RAV4 with 2.5L four-cylinder. It's rated at 1500lbs, I'm thinking that's conservative. The RAV4 has zero problems, pulls up every ramp I've been to without tirespin. I'm conservative - I keep it out of OD, give lots of space, and drive gently... it does fine, far better than I expected. It's got 180hp and good brakes.
Don't know weight of boat as equipped, but I'd guess... 2000lbs or so.

Blazer / Jimmy will tow that no problem 2 or 4 door. We had the 2 door and a 16ft fibreglass with a 140hp outboard. Pretty effortless.
