Motor has recently begun to quit peeing for about 5 seconds every 15 seconds or so. The sequence repeats itself over and over, occurs during idling and in gear.

Does this sound like an impeller or thermostat problem?

Impeller was last replaced about 2 or 3 years ago. This current pee problem arouse after going through very muddy water. Coincidental ??

Also, when buying a shop manual for the above motor, should I buy one from Mercury or buy an aftermarket one, or does it matter ???

Thanks a bunch

Doug

Thats the telltale so you could have a bad thermostat or a bad impeller

thermostat, it could have been plugged by the mud, but it sounds like you probably damaged the impeller

Ran it again this morning and same thing.

A few hours later, it peed like it use to. No stopping for a few seconds and no sputtering.

Will run it again in the morning and see what happens.
