I have a 2000 model 50 hp outboard, 150FLTRY-2000, that is making an alarm sound. When you crank the engine and let it idle for 3-5 minutes an alrm goes off, no lights. If you cut the key off and right back on the alarm will not come back on immediately but it will come on in a minute or so. If I am running above idle it will never make a sound. If I throttle it up the alarm won't stop after it has started. I don't think it's overheating because it only comes on when idling. Any ideas ?????? This is a 4 stroke engine so there is no oil injection tank.

Don't the F motors have a low oil pressure alarm?

i would think so but if it's oil pressure related why does it only do it at idle.

Oil pump is not turning very fast at idle, just like the motor

I have determined the problem is cooling system related. I removed the water temp sensor and checked the temp with an ir gun to find out the engine is running too warm. The sensor sounds at 200 degrees so it is doing what it is supposed to do. I am going to remove the foot and check the water pump next.
