I have a 2000 115 johnson ocean pro, i had it out last week in some shallow water and the engine stopped spitting water out. I went home and tried flushing it out and it seemed to work. Today I took out the boat and as we were driving the boat over heated and shut down despite the fact that water was coming out the back. When i took the boat home i took out the thermostats and flushed them out and when i put them back, and took the boat for a test ride it did not over heat. Although it did not over heat, the water pressure while I was running at 4,000 RPMS, seemed to be high. It was running at about 60psi, is this normal, and if nots not what should the water pressure be at 4,000RMS and what could be causing the high pressure if this is not right? Thank you

How are you determining the water pressure. Does the motor/boat have a water pressure gauge installed?

My '98 150HP V6 (similar to your motor) runs at 30-35 PSI at 4000 RPM. It sounds like you need to test the thermostats to see if they stick. Hang them in a pot on the stove and heat up the water until they open. They should open at about 140 degrees F. Use a candy thermometer to check the temp.
