200 ob info

Just purchased a repo boat that has a mercury 200 outboard, the hull is a 1990 Viper. Trying to find out year and model number of engine, however the sticker with the serial number is faded and I can only make out these digits 8230842 or B230842. Is there any other place that I can check for the serial numberor any information to identify this motor?

Have a look at the top of the block portside near the cylinder head and you will see a welsh plug with the serial number stamped into it.

Its probably a 1987 model.
