I have a '84 30' pontoon w/ 2.5L OMC stern drive. didn't get completely winterized last year and now I have water running out between the back of the engine and the next gearcase(when I pour about 1 gallon in at thefront). I am assuming/hoping for a frost plug out in the rear of engine.
Question 1: is there a plug in the rear?
2. how do I get at it? do I need to lift the entire unit out? pull just engine or drive?
Have no manual..any suggestions for something good on-line?

Yes there is core plugs behind the flywheel. The motor will need to be removed.
If it pushed out a core plug chances are you have other freeze damage.
Cracked block,Exhaust manifold,ect....
Pull the drive then remove the engine.

You will really need a factory service manual. Not a Seloc or Clymers but the real OMC manual.

Re: 2.5 L OMC water problem

Thanks Gary. I found one frost plug under the alternator out that I have replaced. The exhaust manifold was drained and tiller seemed to have drained out as well, so I'm hoping for the best. no water in oil..good compression in all cylinders..I will start search for an original manual.
