my 2.3 volvo bogs or hesitates when accellerated quikly. it takes a few for it to catch up . when accelerated at a slower pace it does same just not as severe ! i have put new plugs points and had carb cleaned . what do u thinks the deal ?

it is A aq131a volvo penta motor ! I did run it out of gas and seems like ive had this prob since but i did have carb cleaned and fuel pump is working good . Im not sure bout the accelerater pump or even how 2 check that
Yeah, if you ran it out of gas, you probably picked up all the trash in the process.
You probably will now have to rebuild the carbs to clean out the trash. Might want to consider installing a water seperating fuel filter kit between the tank and fuel pump. It'll save you a lot of work in the future.
