1st time buying stocks on my OWN online? How?

Stay away from Robinhood. They have a few legal issues and they want your bank username and password to set up an account with them!

And the list goes on. Just remember that you are responsible for the trades. Do your homework and don’t allow yourself to buy, hold, or trade based on emotion. All your trades should have sound reasoning behind them.

If you have friends that are happy with their guy, go with one of them...

imo, good this is a well ranked list.

I keep 'play money' in some accounts and do some trading. Overall I'm positive but my 401k that I mostly leave alone is much better off. But a big part of my losses were my former company, ATT. I got tired of the promise of future growth.

TD Ameritrade . . . Probably a minimum amount to start an account. They have the 'Think or Swim' platform and you can either trade throguh the platform or through the website.

The other online brokers are similar.

I use E-trade but it's just one of many.

I have a couple financial planners that do all of my trades with input fromme these days now that I am retired. They can do way better than I can do. Plus I am way more conservative now than what i used to be.

I used to spend hours doing my own research. Now I pay others to do the research and I enjoy those extra hours in the day. The added commission from a full service broker is worth it to me!
