I had marine terminals crimped onto the cables, and then bolted on marine quality battery clamps. These have a large contact area and can be replaced easily when they start to get corroded. I use locking nuts instead of the wing nuts shown in the pic. Or you can use a locking nut to attach the terminals to the studs on the battery, either way will work.
Thanks everyone for all of their help. Ancor battery cables came today. I finally traced my issue back to the yellow red wire where it fed into the starter relay. One of the prongs on the harness part that the relay plugs into was slightly bent. Cleaned everything up and gently bent it back into place and now all good. Thanks again for everyone’s help and ideas. Question for future reference, has anyone ever replaced one of these connectors where the relay plugs into?

I smell BS or the explanation is in error
The yellow/red energizes the slave relay and then sends power down to the starter. If this was a bad connection the starter would not energizes all the time, and at no time when it did not energize would the starter engage and just spin.

All I know is I cleaned every connection from the S terminal back to where it connected to the relay. The yellow red wire was the only reading I had out of whack when I installed new cables this afternoon. Also cleaned and tightened every wire that goes to the 50 am circuit breaker. Thanks for your well thought out and insightful response .
