I have a 17' Mako with a 115 Merc (Red cover). Ive never had an issue with it other than the stator frying on me about a year ago. Anyway so Sunday I was out with some friends after a day on the water and as Im coming in to the chanel the boat just dies. I ended up having to get towed back in which was no big deal. When I get home I try to fire it up with some luck. I cranked up the throttle hit the key and fired up reved up high for about a second and then it died. It wont start at idle and only does this. The Cylinders each have 125psi compression. The fuel pump is working and the carbs are all full of gas. Any ideas? Im thinking a possible electrical problem or maybe soemthing having to do with the system that runs 2 cylinders while under low RPM's

You need to have a spark testor to check for good blue spark at each plug end... I bought the Simmens testor like the shops use and use it as much as mechanics use a 10mm or 1/2 socket...After a compression test it is the fastest way to insure that you got good spark and not intermittant spark on all cylinders... My wild guess is could be a switch box or stator going out but there are tests for that as well clearly explained in books. you will need a digital VOM meter as well as a PEAK VOLTAGE ADAPTER that can capture the high voltage spikes that you will get...all explained in text book...let us know what you find...good luck..

Definitely sounds like switch box.Do proper tests and retest stator and trigger while your at it.
