My engine just started this problem after 15 years. Here is what occurs: Starts fine and runs fine when first put in water. After my first run, usually at about 3600 RPMs and for about 10 - 15 minutes, shutting down, fishing for a bit, then, upon restarting my engine, it will only run at about 2600 RPMs. It has corrected itself before during the 2600 RPM running and when shutting down again and sitting around for a bit, restarting and it is OK. After these corrections it seems to be OK for the rest of the day (4 hours), both starting and stopping. Mechanic thought it was that I needed 93 octane non ethanol and I was running 89 octane non ethanol. I tried 93 octane non-ethanol and it did not help. Primer bulb and gas line has been replaced. Fuel filter kit replaced. Banged around on power packs and could not make it miss. My friend and I removed the cowling and were able to correct problem by banging on ECU lightly with rubber hammer and also created the problem by using the same tactic. After correction, problem free rest of the day. ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS!!! Thanks.
