1999 Johnson 150 Timing cover

Trying to replace the Optics sensor on a 1999 Johnson 150 but can’t get the timing cover off the crank. Any suggestions

They do get stuck on. Have same motor, Twins. The also get brittle and break. I just broke 1 with little effort. The other I used penetrant for couple days and carefully taped & pried, ovwr and over. It came off eventually.

Replacements are 80 bucks
