I start it up, and within 15-20 seconds I've got an alarm that sounds solidly as long as the boat's running. Gauges look normal, is this a possible code that I need to get into the system and clear out?

Usually the alarms sounds for only 3 reasons: high engine temp, low oil pressure, LOW OUTDRIVE oil level (if you have the setup).

Check to make sure your outdrive oil reservoir is filled to the FULL line.

Has any work been done on the engine lately? Like a service or some parts changed?

now this may sound really goofy, but - my in hull depth finder sometimes goes absolutely ballistic when I am running the boat in the driveway - no rhyme or reason, but it does

just a thought

Oil was a bit low & the drive oil reservoir was about empty. Looks like I was just trying to look for bigger issues to start with. Thanks Guys! Also, I'm looking through the manual for the engine and I'm not seeing it spec anything in here, but the engine takes straight 40w oil, correct?

25W-40 if the drive res was low/empty you have a leak that needs to be fixed .failure to keep enough oil in the drive will lead to drive failure

I'm running Delvac 15w-40 in mine this year. So far, so good. Not losing the pressure
