1999 175 FICHT Trouble Codes

My check engine alarm began sounding last weekend. It was only at idle or low throttle position below 2000 rpm. The alarm would quit (after 10 seconds) and light extinguish after reaching 2000 rpm but would re-initiate again at low throttle position. I ran the self diagnostic and the codes are: 13, 22, 43, 47, 49. Expressing circuit issues with the TP sensor, WT switch, WT Sensor, and AT Sensor. I had no trouble codes prior to this and these codes would not clear thus they are hard codes.

I checked all connections, wires, etc. and found no visible evidence of corrosion or damage. All fuses in the distribution/relay panel are intact. Because all of these codes seemed to show up at one time I suspect either a problem with the System Check Gauge or the EMM. My dealer does not have a system check tester and said I could by a new gauge to test the old gauge. Obviously I don't like that idea much:(. Currently my alternative is to take it to my local dealer and have him run the diagnostic program for about 1.5 hrs labor.

Does anyone have any experience that could shed some light on this issue?

Does anyone know where I can get a System Check Tester?

Does anyone have experience with re-building the EMM? Can you recommend a re-build company. My dealer doesn't like DFI anymore and has suggested if necessary that he would send the EMM to Bombardier.

I appreciate the help. If Sal DeMercurio or Sea Horse reads this, I would certainly appreciate your feed back as well.

Thanks,

LF

Re: 1999 175 FICHT Trouble Codes

Most dealers I've talked to only charge 1/2 hour to hook up the diagnostic software and give the customer a printout of the motor history.

You need to find out when these multiple codes occured. They may have been a long time ago and one of them recent, or all happened at once. That makes a big difference in troubleshooting.

We need more info

Re: 1999 175 FICHT Trouble Codes more info

Thanks for the reply.

Because I haven't had the warning on a prior date I am presuming that all of these trouble codes ocurred at approximately the same time. Is that an erroneus presumption?

More info: I did a static resistance test of all relevant sensors via the EMM connector terminal and found: AT to register 9640 ohms, WT sensor 10640 ohms, WT switch open (infinite ohms), TP sensor 6430 ohms black to red and; 1000 to 7450 ohms red to green and 7450 to 1000 ohms black to green when activating sensor manually. According to my Seloc manual all of these resistance readings are within spec. Do I need to bother with doing a comprehensive/dynamic test to evaluate resistance while temperatures are rising and falling?

Question: Could corrosion on the wire connections to my System Check Gauge or to the alarm horn be causing the codes? fyi; The corrosion looks mild more like simple discoloration.

thanks for the help.

The water temp sensor codes would have triggered the HOT light, not the CHECK ENGINE light.

You will need the diag. software to check things out correctly.
