1998 TigerShark 770 TS, Can someone identify this part?

Hi,

I don't have the manual for this machine but hoping someone can identify. On the side of the hull there is a screw in plug. The hose is connected to the exhaust manifold.

What is this for?

I am not sure on a 98 so this is a guess. Newer models used water to cool exhaust for emission reasons. It did nothing but cool exhaust and many people plugged them off. Again this is a maybe.
