Hey guys, I have been looking around on here and thought I would post up a project I'm working on. It's not a full tear down and restore, more of a sun damage repair and update with new upholstery and a vinyl wrap. I got this boat off of eBay and made the trip from Houston to Florida to pick it up. I got a great deal on it so I figured I could throw a little time and money in it and still be way ahead of the game.

Re: 1998 Starcraft Starship Aurora 2415 restoration

I have only had one full day to spend on the boat, I spent that time wet sanding and buffing the gelcoat. It turned out better, but still not great so I called a friend that owns a FastSigns north of Houston and he and his wife are designing a vinyl wrap so the exterior is going on the back burner for now. In the meantime I'm working on the upholstery. I have nevr done any upholstery work before but did not like the work I saw or the quotes I got from the pros so I figured I'd give it a shot. I bought an old Singer industrial machine, a bunch of marine grade vinyl and some sunguard thread and got started.

Here are the before pics:

I'm trying to do one cover per night after my kids go to bed, but it's slow going.

Anyway, there is my project, if you have and comments or pointers I'm all ears!

Dude, sweet boat! Uhh...restore?? Really?? Throw some wax on that beast, a couple seat covers and hit the water! Better yet, drop it off at old Hoss'
place and I'll have her ready to go for you about September:D

Nice work!

Thanks, I appreciate it. How about I drop it off with my sewing machine and the vinyl, pick it up in a couple of weeks?

I have been really busy with the fire academy, fire dept stuff, my dad's boat seats, kids schedules and other forms of life getting in the way....the boat had to take a back seat for a while. But I'm back on it and have a few more seats done. I will be working on the rest of them with a goal of having them completed by next weekend. Here are some pics of the ones done so far:

Actually I have a friend that owns a sign company and he is doing large black vinyl stripes down the sides with brushed aluminum highlights and graphics, that should turn out pretty nice.

The designer at the sign shop decided to do something a bit more creative with the vinyl, here is the photoshop of what should be delivered today.

It's a bit over the top, but i dig it. The Baby Girl and picture are references to my wife.
