Hey guys,
I bought a 1998 Baron Magnum last week. Its in decent shape but needs a little work. Working on the transom and I cant find much of anything for these online. I think this is the 7th boat Ive done so I figured I could tackle this. Making good progress but man it is a bear. Finally got the transom out last night. Had to cut it in sections because I just couldnt get it to budge whole. It would lift the back of the boat. I did have to cut the end of the gunnels to get this out. Ill weld it back together and paint. To get the engine out I had to hook it up and lift it out, then put 4x4s to hold it above the engine bay. Let the air out of the tires, jack the front end up, shorten the chains, and lift again to get just enough clearance. To get the foam out I used a cup brush and a selfeed drill bit. Im cutting the foam back so it does not rest against the transom and water has a place to escape.

I’m about to tackle the same project, but debating if selling as is might be a better option. Was the final product worth the effort ?
