hi everyone this site rocks !!! This is my first post to, im looking at a 98, 150 johnson carbed looper . I dont know the hours yet but it has been sitting on a stand since sept of 09 . I have not heard it run yet either. What should i be looking at for compression and should it be checked cold or warm any ideas on realistic numbers for that year??? Also if it checks out ok should the vro system be disabled and just premix for saftey and the life of the engine ? Iam going to look at it this weekend ,any and all concerns or information is welcome and greatly app. thanks jerry I will post with the test results as soon as i get them for everyones feedback thanks:confused:

I have owned that exact motor for about 3 years. it has been very reliable. If it were me, I would keep the OMS Oil injection operational. it is very convenient. I would test the four engine sensors to make sure they work, however.

Compression should be over 100PSI and more importantly, even across all cylinders.
