I have a friend who is buying a Triton 18' bass boat with a 1998 Johnson 150 ficht motor on it. I told him I had read a lot of post on here about the ficht series motors and they were not a particularly dependable motor. He is having doubts now about buying this boat.

Did I tell him wrong? I think I remember hearing many of these motors blew up because of the way Johnson change the oil injection and many people disconnected the oiol injectors and starting mixing their oil. Is this correct?

Are there any concerns? Please post.

No, I'd have serious trepidations, too. The 1990s V-6 Fichts were the problem motors. The V-4s were fine. Oil had nothing to do with it. For that, you're thinking of VRO and they ironed that out by 1990.
