Does anyone know what would be under the carpet in my 98 Chaparral? I read about one person who found gelcoat on the floor of their chaparral and wonder if that is the standard or if it might be a late year 98. I think, the fiberglass may have become standard in 99. Would like to get an idea of what will be in store as my carpet needs replaced.

I'd find an edge where carpet ends in a hidden spot. Peal enough up to see. Could be marine plywood at that age.

first, welcome aboard.

second, if you dont find a fiberglassed deck on any fiberglass boat, someone else was in there and did a deck-over. they leave the factory with fiberglass covering the core material.

Chap has been doing fiberlass decks for about 50 years.
