1998 90HP Special Shift Rod??

I need advise on how to drop my lower unit. I have all of the bolts loose and the unit drops about 1/2". I know my shifting rod is whats keeping it from dropping all the way but I cannot figure how it disconnects. Can some please give me some advise.

There's a clip in the shift linkage on the starboard side. Pull that, push the linkage, watch your toes.
