1998 5.0 backfire 3200-3800 rpm

i have a 1998 Crownline br202 with a 5.0 engine that backfires between 3200-3800 rpm after it get up to operating temp. I have had carb rebuilt(2 barrel) changed plugs, checked timing, wires and cap and rotor are 2 years old. Boat has 445 hours on it. Need help!!!

backfiring thru carb? If so it is proabably running lean. Change your fuel seperator. Dump old one in a clear GLASS bottle and check for water.

Could also be your condenser. If the fuel thing don't work out replace the points and condenser.

backfire started at end of last year thought was fuel also. i put new filter on last year and another one this year. i may be wrong but it doesnt have points and condenser?

Ayuh,... Then there's a Deeper issue in the fuel system,....

Could be the Fuel, the Tank, the Lines, the Fuelpump, or the Carb again...

Another item that causes popping through the carb is the coil.

boat doesnt backfire until engine is warm. and only between rpm 3200-3800

Well guys got to bottom of problem did a compression test found out had burnt valve. Thanks for your help. Russ
