Doug, timer base fixed my missfire issue. thanks for that. turning the selector dial on the back of the tach fixed the tack indication problem. I still, however, have the lean sneeze after doing the link and synch.

also, I still have a quick start issue though I think. I have followed the CDI electronics and the OE manual procs for verifying quickstart operation...I cannot see the timing mark move at all while connecting/reconnecting the temp sensor white/black wire, I also tried grounding it. the motor does change RPM after the start but when it does that the timing mark doesn't move. what the hell is causing the high rpm start and then causing the idle to come back down if not the damn timing? the motor does this with the yellow/red wire disconnected from the back of the pack!! but still no timing change. it is perplexing unless I am missing something stupid.
