1997 Johnson 150 Fast Strike

Did johnson make anything else but ficht motors in 1997? Im looking at a 1997 Champion with a 1997 Johnson 150 Fast Strike, and the motor is my main concern on this boat any feedback would be helpful.

that is not a ficht, that is a carbbed motor. it is a 60 degree ois. a great motor. check the compression, should be over 100 psi on all cylinders.

did johnson even make Ficht motors in 97?

maybe Evinrude did, but i wonder if Johnson did.

I am not sure..it was 97 or 98 when the ficht motors first came out, I think...but obviously a ficht motor would be fuel injected, not carbbed. the fast strike motors were the GL models, and have higher compression heads, bigger jets and porting. the produced about %10 more HP than rated. nice motors.
