Hi all,

First week of the summer holidays did not turn out good at all.
Fired up my 200EFi merc to notice that the engine was misfiring on 1-cyl, located burnt coil on the stator windings beneath the fly-wheel. Got a new on order and managed the get the whole thing replaced in water by the end of last week.
Ran like a charm and headed for shore to pick up a case of beer and the missy, took her for a spin ( the Boat! ) and headed out, passing trough a canal w. 7 knot limit I pulled off on the throttle but revs would not drop lower than ~2000rpm and shifter would not budge and allow for a neutral change at high revs.
Whacked it to neutral in favor of hitting a sailor and engine poped into reverse with a wounderful 'klonk'.
Cut power, switched to neutral and engine revs to ~2000rpm.. got the baby towed to port and checked for errors.
Found brown cable hanging into throttle inlet preventing it to close - What are the chances for that?
Do not know where to attach the cable, seems to go on lower "Probe" on "Fuel pump" but uncertain.

Anyways, right now the engine idles, reverses but fwd takes it in reverse. in other words complete loss of forward gear.

Right now I'm staring at the exploded view and tearing my hair off, the misses is pissed and the case of beer is long gone. Time to get dirty with this little thing.

What on earth did I break in the gear assy? Is it really a must to drop the LU to be able to locate and fix whatever is busted in the gearbox?
Call it a day and just hand it to the dealer and take the finacial drawback?

Take care y'all.

Regards
