I'm new to this site - what a great resource I've already book marked it.

I just bought a "New to Me" Aquasport 215 Explorer with a '97 Evinrude Oceanpro 200hp. Had a mechanic sea trail and compression check the engine and I sea trial'd it as well and of course everything checked out. I have used the boat 2 time since and I noticed at idle speed, it's running very rough; it jumping around - not caughing or sneezing. I believe it may be dropping a cylinder or two - It runs beautifully beyond 1000 rpms. Another thing I noticed is that on my first trip out my guages were not working (tach, pressure, temp etc...), on my second trip they worked. She idles in neutral fine.

The engine was fogged prior to storage with a full tank. It has a Racor spin-on filter. Not sure if this is electrical or fuel. The guage thing has me thinking it's electrical.

Any ideas? I'm new to the OMC world (always had Yami's)

You can use an inductive timing light to check and see if the plug wires are firing at idle, might help you determine if you have an ignition problems.
