That's a good idea. As it stands the lower unit was pulled this morning. The impeller housing is showing very slight signs of having been heated with some very miner scoring. The impeller looks fairly good but it has small 45 degree chunks on all the fins(Is that what you would call them?) missing were it looks like something may have gotten in there and damaged it. It is very slight. We are going to do the whole impeller kit.
Does this amount of damage sound like ti could cause the overheating I am getting? I know on a lot of pumps it doesn't take much damage for the impellers to not be able to draw fluid. With the minor damage I am thinking there was enough water being supplied to keep it cool while while running in low rpm then fail as more water is required? I guess the only real way to know is change it put it back on the water but still nice to hear replies of those that have far more experience than I do.
While this work is being done also putting the original jets back in. That puts the motor back to 100% stock other than it being rebuilt. Get it back to base line and go from there.
Thanks
