I’ve just purchased a 1996 Seadoo gti 720 and I’m trying to figure out how I can correctly supply water to the ski out of water so I can run it for a little when it’s in the trailer. Also I wanted to get some opinions on 2 stroke oil to use in this ski. I’ve been looking at Amsoil oil 2 stroke pwc oil and Seadoo Xps 2 stroke pwc synthetic blend oil. Just want to see if one may be better than the other or what brand is good to use for this ski. I will provide a couple pics of the oil I’ve been looking at. Thank you.82E51376-D737-4DDD-AD91-738103D0EDB2.jpegDDA723E0-0031-4561-86ED-B75EC8BEA69A.jpeg45F41CF0-C048-42B2-A01F-AC26ACF47C8D.jpeg3BCABFB5-9010-4C89-A524-C8FB7292B7FB.png9C5A749B-5CEB-4472-91F5-255BC227D24E.png

Look at the stern next to the nozzle, there is a hose connection. Attach hose with a shut off valve.

Start motor then turn water ON

To shut down, turn water OFF then kill motor

I don’t see a physical water hose connection. I will get pictures by the jet pump and post them. There is one Inlet to the right of the jet pump that looks like it takes water and feeds it to the engine. Do I need to hook a little water hose up to that? There is also a valve in the engine bay under the seat that is inline with the hose that is associated with that inlet by the pump. Does that have anything to do with the cooling system?

Yes, it has the quick connect garden hose male end
Attach hose, and
"Make sure to do it as listed above"

For now since I don’t have the quick connect can I just connect a hose to that inlet to the right of the jet pump?

Yes, BUT (note the but)

You need a valve to keep water OFF until motor starts, "then" turn water ON

Do in reverse to shut down

Also one more thing. There is this cylinder like Thing in line with the oil line that maybe is a filter that has what looks to be some chew marks on it. I will include a picture of what im describing and see if you can tell me what it is and if it needs to be replaced because of the condition that’s

Note sure what it is, might be a oil injection check valve, but again I'm guessing

Thanks for your help. I was safely able to run my ski out of the water and I followed your start up and shutoff procedures and Everything went swell. Thanks again

I’m trying to figure out what the cylinder type tube that is inline with my oil lines on my seadoo 717 engine. It looks a little chewed up and I was wondering if anybody can tell me what it is and if I need to replace it because of its condition. Thanks. DE79C4B3-AA45-4B4F-949C-C4EBDC42DD9B.jpeg

Sounds like it’s all covered above. But about the oil. At least one (maybe both, without checking) of the oils you’ve pictured above are for Di injector model seadoo. The model you have isn’t. It’s highly likely that your ski needs TCW3 oil. Personally I’d get an oil pump block off kit and do away with the oil injection system. If it’s still active. Then pre mix at 40-1.

Both of those oils are approved to be used in my machine. What I was asking was which one is better. If all the oil lines are in good condition and oil injection system is working properly then there is really no point in deleting The oil injection just to go through the hassle of premix.

Oil injection on an old 90’s machine. Works well…until it doesn’t…usually at 6000+ rpm ! If you are religious about the oil line condition and the pump drive and pump itself…removing and inspecting very very regularly…fair play. But even the Yamaha skis of this vintage…have mostly been by passed by now. I’ve had a few of both over the years. Just passing on some info. Do what you wish with it. But you aren’t sounding too familiar with the oil system at all, as things are now. So please be careful. That’s all. Make sure that amsoil stuff is tcw3 rated. Some injector oils aren’t at all.
