I have a mariner 115 HP that I just bought 2 weeks ago and I'm now working on starting it I checked compression 120-125 on all 4 cylinders and tried to start the engine it cranked but no start so grabbed some Starter fluid and it started with that but ran horrible and kept shutting off so cleaned the carbs were a bit dirty as expected and tried to run it again it cranked but no start so starter fluid again it started and ran way better but it still dies and spark plugs are new has 1 new coil any suggestions on how to get it to start without starter fluid please???

Are you using the fast start lever? What about the primer? Are you using that? Carbs back on the right cylinder? You know that's a 2+2 motor correct? Starts and idles on the top 2.

Ok your controller should have a button in the middle of the throttle. Push that in to disengage the shifting function. This will give you a throttle only function for starting. Push the button in and push the throttle just until you feel resistance. Now while you are starting it, Push the key in until it starts. Pushing the key in activates the primer on the motor which acts like a choke. Once started be prepared to pull back on the throttle. There may be some trial and error on this for how much throttle is needed. You still need to pump the ball on the fuel line.
